I 35 at Oltorf**
TxDOT Austin District
The project consisted of widening of I 35 near Oltorf, new frontage roads and intersection improvements. Pavement recommendations were provided according to the TxDOT Pavement Manual and the Austin District Pavement Design Guide. Data from Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and soil borings were used to provide the pavement recommendations. Sulfates were a major concern along the alignment. Recommendations were provided for select fill replacement to address sulfate heave.
